I recently purchased a new camera (Nikon D7000), as well as a new lens (sigma 70-200mm f/2.8) in an attempt to improve my ability to photograph low-light, high-action events like barrel races held at night.  My first attempt at this type of event was not successful at all, and helped me to realize that I needed to upgrade.

I had my first event on Friday night.  I experienced a great deal of apprehension prior to the rodeo; I had done my research, purchased the equipment… but I had no idea how things would work out…

As you can see, things worked out.  I am very pleased with how all the photos came out, especially since it was my first time working with the new camera and the new lens.  It was also my first time photographing bull riding.
